LAND OF THREADS, Handmade embroidery on paper & cotton 2020-2024
Inspired by nature and the environment, this project was developed through the creation of a series of hand embroideries on fabric and paper. Created in recent years with the intention of experimenting with the use of ancient textile techniques—found in various millennia-old cultures—this project links these techniques to questions about our relationship with time, technology, nature, and the body.
The works gathered on LAND OF THREADS are inspired by the textures, lines, colors, and rhythms of diverse landscapes. They trace forests, mountains, dried water channels, vacant lots, and pavement patterns in thread, translating them into textile pieces. The loose, sinuous drawings create delicate changes in texture, adding depth and fluidity to the compositions. Each line subtly alters the surface, inviting an exploration of form and movement.
