XIV INFINITE VARIATIONS, Series of 14 hand embroideries on paper commissioned for the Hotel Mandarin Oriental / Santiago, Chile/ 2018

Starting from an original piece, a commission of fourteen works was requested, each varying the initial design. Patterns of semicircles arranged in sequences, which repeat and alternate according to mathematical patterns, form the series of geometric embroideries. These embroideries, which follow constructive systems of pre-colonial Mexican weaving, extend an ancient code in thread and transform it into a new abstract language on paper.

The geometric shapes lead to a network of formal interrelationships on white, which, depending on the fill and void of the embroidery, create visual scores. In this way, multiple possibilities are woven through the game of negative-positive, background- form, from the same original geometric design.
